Prof. Gallagher spoke about the need for a test to help determine if early stage breast cancer patients require chemotherapy.

Currently, chemotherapy is overprescribed, meaning that many women endure severe side effects from unnecessary treatment. The OncoMasTR assay will identify these women who are at a very low risk of cancer recurrence, thus enabling up to 70% of early stage breast cancer patients to avoid unnecessary chemotherapy.
