OncoMark wins a Champions of EU Research award
OncoMark CEO Des O'Leary was awarded an Ireland's Champions of EU Research award from Enterprise Ireland at an event held in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham yesterday (Wednesday 28th June 2017).
The awards were presented by John Halligan T.D. Minister of State for Training, Skills, Innovation, Research and Development and Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland. The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of academics, industry and research organisations who have shown exceptional leadership in EU funding.
OncoMark received the award for their project OncoMasTR, which received €2.75 million funding in 2015 under the H2020 SME Instrument Programme Phase II. Of 125 proposals, OncoMasTR was one of only 3 proposals funded in this particular round of funding and was ranked 1st in its category.
OncoMasTR is a novel prognostic test for early stage breast cancer patients that will reduce the number of patients receiving unnecessary chemotherapy. The funding from H2020 is allowing OncoMark to develop and clinically validate the OncoMasTR test. OncoMasTR has enormous potential to improve the care of breast cancer patients.
